Murray Hill & New Providence, N.J., U.S., August 30, 2012 – Water and wastewater treatment plants can more efficiently control pH, biological oxygen demand (BOD), dissolved organics and odors with high-performance, environmentally-friendly gas injection systems from Linde North America, featured at WEFTEC 2012 in New Orleans, October 1-3.
Linde offers oxygen (O2), ozone (O3) and carbon dioxide (CO2) gas-dissolution systems that can significantly improve treatment process efficiencies while helping customers meet environmental requirements -- often at a lower cost than existing treatment methods. Linde water treatment technology is important to many industries including: Dairy and beverage, meat and poultry, pulp and paper, textiles and dyeworks; as well as prepared foods, laundry, cement, desalination and chemical processing.
To decrease biological oxygen demand (BOD), dissolved organics and odors, Linde offers the SOLVOX® process, which offers an effective supplement or replacement to forced air systems. Since air is only 21 percent oxygen, the SOLVOX oxygenation process can be almost 5 times more efficient. Oxygen use can also save energy required for compressors in high-volume aeration systems.
The SOLVOCARB® process is a fast and economical way to neutralize alkaline wastewater with a high degree of control using CO2. When dissolved in water, CO2 forms carbonic acid to quickly reduce pH to appropriate levels for discharge.
Carbon dioxide is an inert gas and mild buffering agent, providing a much safer alternative to hazardous and corrosive mineral acid treatments, such as sulfuric acid (H2SO4). CO2 gases are also important to reverse osmosis (RO) and remineralization systems.
The Linde Water Treatment Team reviews treatment challenges and develops complete engineering solutions for the storage, metering and injection of gases. For more information, visit Linde at WEFTEC Booth 3339, Hall E (www.lindeus.com), or call 800-755-9277.
